Mimi & Moshe Jewish IMAGO
WHAT IS JEWISH IMAGO?
Imago Therapy is a gentle and respectful method of dialogue, used to help couples communicate more effectively. Imago philosophy believes that coupling is based on our attraction to a partner who has experienced many of the same experiences, pleasant and unpleasant, as we have, through his or her life journey. Where there is attraction, there will also be a core, shared life experience.
In Imago work, the purpose is for partners to become more who they are and can be, by engaging in dialogue, where they learn to know and understand each other's journey through the validation and empathy that emanates from the dialogical process. The ultimate product of Imago work is compassion for one's partner and the heightening of intimacy and cooperation in the marital unit.

Jewish Imago is unique in the world, as it actually demonstrates how, through the dialogue process, couples can actually strengthen their life's work as a couple and a family, by deepening the precept "Ezer Kenegdo", by understanding that "different" is more inclusive, more total, and more encompassing.
When we accept that as partners, we are different in our experience of life, and that that difference is inherent to the growth process of each one of us, we embrace the differences in our relationship, as a stimulus for growth, rather than the subject of a debate. We see difference as helpful for dynamism and for enriching the couple experience, so that we can both give and receive from our partners. We learn ourselves anew by seeing ourselves through the prism of our partner's experience. We take in the "opposing views", in order to help ourselves learn new things and repair old things we were unaware of. As such, we understand marriage, in the Jewish sense, as a place for our personal "Tikun ".
